abstract

in this experiment two hundreds one day old broiler chicks (ross 308) in 5 treatments and 4 replicates were used based a completely randomized design. experimental treatments were: control treatment (basal diet), clove essential oil (ceo) at different levels (100, 300 and 500 mg/kg + basal diet) and 600 mg/kg flavophospholipol antibiotics (fpa) + basal diet. results showed that feed intake was negatively affected by increasing ceo as the lowest and the highest feed intake was observed when the broilers received 500 mg/kg ceo and antibiotic (p<0.05) respectively. also, the highest weight gain at antibiotic treatment and at the level of 300 mg/ kg ceo and the lowest of weight gain was observed at control treatment and at the level of 500 mg/kg ceo (p<0.01). the best and the worst feed conversion rate was observed at the level of 300 mg/kg ceo and control treatment (p<0.001) respectively. carcass and thigh proportional weights of broilers were increased at ceo oil and antibiotic treatments compared with control treatment (p<0.01). gastrointestinal and bursa of fabricius proportional weights of broilers were significantly decreased at ceo and antibiotic treatments compared with control treatment (p<0.05). none of white blood cell, red blood cell, heterophil, lymphocyte, hematocrit, hemoglobin and antibody titers was affected by dietary treatments. in this experiment, the best performance was observed at the level of 300 mg/kg ceo.

Dietary Inclusion of Thyme Essential Oil Alleviative Effects of Heat Stress on Growth Performance and Immune System of Broiler Chicks

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary inclusion of thyme essential oil (TEO) on growth performance and immune responses of broiler chicks subjected to heat stress (HS). Broilers were divided into five groups; group 1) chicks fed with basal diet and reared under thermoneutral condition; group 2) chicks fed with basal diet and subjected to HS condition; and groups 3, 4 and 5...

Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics and Intestinal Microflora of Broiler Chickens Fed Diets Containing Carum copticum Essential Oil

We evaluated the effects of dietary Carum copticum essential oil (CCEO) on growth performance, carcass characteristics and intestinal microflora of broiler chickens. A total of 240 Cobb broiler chickens were allocated to five dietary treatments, each with four replicates of 12 birds. Dietary treatments were prepared by formulating a corn-soybean meal-based diet free of antibiotics (Control) and...

Effects of Irradiated Flaxseed on Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Blood Parameters, and Nutrient Digestibility in Broiler Chickens

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of feeding electron irradiated flaxseed (FS) on performance, carcass characteristics, blood parameters, digesta viscosity, and nutrient digestibility in broiler chickens. In a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement, 320 day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to one of five experimental diets, each with four replicates containing 16 chicks e...
